| PRODUCTION OF PURE PLANT OIL Keep it local – keep it green… The rapeseed crop is harvested and transported to a local crushing plant (even the farm machinery used for sowing the seed and harvesting / transporting the crop can be run off the fuel produced). At the crushing plant the harvest is fed into a mechanical press, and the oil extracted. The crushing process is crucial to the quality of the fuel and Verdant Fuel monitors this process very carefully to ensure fuel quality. The remaining cake provides an excellent animal fodder that is then distributed to local livestock farmers and animal feed producers. All that remains is to filter and de-gum the oil and distribute to local users. The de-gumming and filtering processes both use minimal energy, and neither process produce any harmful by-products or pollutants. The entire production process has a much lower carbon footprint than comparable biodiesel and fossil fuel. ![]() "A technical solution may be defined as one that requires a change only in the techniques of the natural sciences, demanding little or nothing in the way of change in human values or ideas of morality.
