WHAT IS PURE PLANT OIL ? - Fuel – Manufactured By Nature, Processed by Us…
Pure Plant Oil as the name suggests, is the pure extract from oil producing crops usually achieved by a crushing process. There are a number of oil producing crops harvested all over the globe, these include such varieties as Soya, Palm and Jatropha to mention but a few.
Local Production – Local Use
Verdant Fuel Limited strongly believes in local production, for local use. The crops mentioned above are not typically native to the European continent, and therefore they would have to be shipped across the world to be used in European markets.
However, the European climate does lend itself almost ideally to the production of rapeseed. Rapeseed, by its very nature provides a particularly high quality of fuel oil and furthermore the ‘litre per acre’ yield is extremely attractive.
Rapeseed also provides an excellent ‘break crop’ for farmers. It helps refresh the soil so that subsequent crops of wheat or barley achieve higher yields than if there were no agricultural rotation. So instead of hindering or restricting the production of cereal crops, the growing of rapeseed actually helps to maintain cereal yields.
For these reasons Verdant Fuel Limited has chosen rapeseed as it’s crop of choice, and along with our sister company Elsbett AG, we have spent 30 years or so perfecting the use of rapeseed oil as a substitute for mineral based diesel fuels.
Like other bio-fuels, Verdant Fuel is inherently carbon neutral. The carbon dioxide that is emitted when the fuel burns in the engine is balanced by the carbon that was absorbed by the rapeseed plant when it was growing the previous year. Because Verdant Fuel uses very little energy to process it has a much lower carbon footprint than comparable bio-diesel. This ensures that Verdant Fuel is one of the cleanest and greenest transport fuels currently available.

Verdant Fuel – It’s GOOD for the Environment…
Verdant Fuel – derived from rapeseed offers a negligible environmental cost. It absorbs Carbon Dioxide whilst it is growing and the subsequent processing is clean and chemical free. Rapeseed is both sustainable and renewable.
Verdant Fuel - It’s BAD for International Shippers…
Rapeseed can be grown and processed locally in Europe. Unlike most mineral fuels and some plant oils it does not require gas guzzling and environmentally harmful ships to transport it around the globe.
Verdant Fuel – It’s GOOD for Farmers…
Rapeseed provides farmers with an excellent ‘break crop’ and at the same time ensures that they get a fair price for their harvest. Livestock farmer’s benefit from the high quality fodder generated from the rapeseed cake left after crushing.
Verdant Fuel – It’s BAD for Fuel Retailers…
Rapeseed Oil can be delivered directly to your commercial or domestic premises at a lower price than most other fuels, and we cut out the middleman – the retailer.
Verdant Fuel – It’s GOOD for the Local Economy…
Because the rapeseed is grown, harvested and processed locally, we can help with localised employment and support local businesses.
Verdant Fuel – It’s BAD for Mineral Oil Producers…
For every litre of rapeseed oil that we produce, we avoid the use of several litres of crude mineral oil from being extracted from our dwindling global resources.
Verdant Fuel – It’s GOOD for vehicles…
Many thousands of diesel vehicles have now been converted to run on Pure Rapeseed Oil using Elsbett technology Together these vehicles have covered well over 100 million kilometers on Elsbett technology without any notable adverse effects. It is widely believed that the use of Pure Plant Oil actually extends engine life because it has better lubricity than diesel.
